The Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Program "NeuroTime - Neural Processing on Time" is inviting
applications for fully funded 4-year joint PhD studentships between 6 Universities (Strasbourg, Freiburg i. Br., Amsterdam, Basel, Bangalore and Jerusalem) and 2 Associated Partners (IHD and Neurex), coordinated by the University of Strasbourg. in the field of Neurobiology.

The objective of NeuroTime is to provide PhD students with a top quality international training program in multidisplinary neuroscience that will contribute through the creation of a 'European Higher Education Area' in investigating a process lying at the heart of brain function & dysfunction: processing of time.

The training provided by our program integrates developmental, molecular, cellular & behavioral neuroscience, chronobiology, computational neuroscience & neurotechnology.

The projects are collaborative and typically involve two of the six above institutes and will require some travel.

Students should have a solid background in biology, especially neuroscience (on a master level or equivalent). An excellent academic record, documented interest in research and fluency in English are required.

Post Doc Position available in Brain-Machine Interfacing


We are seeking outstanding post doc candidates for research in motor control, brain-machine interfaces, and neuroprosthetics. Ideal candidates will have experience in neural recording and signal processing and proficiency in programming (Matlab experience is ideal). A PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Neurosciences is preferred but other applicants will be considered.

This is an excellent postdoc opportunity for someone wanting to conduct experiments using intracortical unit activity, local field potentials, and regional field potentials (from microECoG) for control of a virtual upper-limb neuroprosthesis. Design of adaptive decoding systems is a major focus of this lab. Opportunities for expansion into Parkinsons/DBS work is also available for the right motivated person.

Neuroengineering faculty position at Rice University

Faculty Position in Cognitive Psychology at University of California, Riverside

The Department of Psychology, University of California, Riverside, invites

2-YEAR POST-DOC POSITION IN COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE OF LANGUAGE AT CIMEC/CLIC

2-YEAR POST-DOC POSITION IN COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE OF LANGUAGE AT CIMEC/CLIC

A two-year postdoctoral position in the computational neuroscience of
language will be available at the CIMeC/CLIC laboratory of the
University of Trento (http://clic.cimec.unitn.it/) starting as soon as
possible from January 2012. The fellowship has an initial duration of
2 years.

The successful candidate will join a team using machine learning
methods to extract semantic information from recordings of neural
activity (EEG, MEG and fMRI). The main focus for this particular
position will be two research collaborations:
- the ADAM project, a collaboration with the University of Trento's
 Centre for Neurocognitive Rehabilitation (CERIN) and the Cognitive
 Neuropsychology Lab at Beijing Normal University, to develop an
 EEG-based diagnosis system to identify language deficits in stroke and
Alzheimer's patients.
- the Deep Relations project, a collaboration with Expert Systems /
 Cogito to explore the use of EEG analysis techniques in detecting
 emotional reaction to text.

The successful candidate should a PhD in computer science / electronic
engineering, cognitive science, or neuroscience, with technical
knowledge of cognitive science and machine learning and experience
with neuroimaging techniques, EEG analysis methods (e.g., in BCI),
experimental design (elicitation/behavioural), machine learning and
signal processing; programming skills are a must, technical knowledge
of computational linguistics a plus.

The Language Interaction and Computation Lab (CLIC) is a unit of the
University of Trento's Centre for Mind/Brain Sciences
(www.cimec.unitn.it) or CIMEC: an interdisciplinary Centre for the
research in brain and cognition including neuroscientists,
psychologists, (computational) linguists, computational
neuroscientists, and physicists. CLIC consists of researchers from the
Departments of Computer Science and Cognitive Science carrying out

information extraction from very large multi-modal corpora, combining

Researcher Position in Machine Learning for Neuroscience


Researcher Position in Machine Learning for Neuroscience is available in the Neuroinformatics Laboratory (NiLab) at Fondazione Bruno Kessler


The Neuroinformatics Laboratory (NILab) is a joint initiative between Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) and the Center for Mind and Brain Sciences (CIMeC) of the University of Trento in order to promote interdisciplinary research in cognitive neuroscience. Neuroinformatics stands at the intersection of neuroscience and information science and it provides methods and technologies for managing, analyzing, and modeling neuroimaging data. 

The NILab mission spans from scientific to technological aspects. The scientific research activity covers the design and the development of novel methods for the integration, the analysis and the interpretation of unimodal and multimodal neuroimaging data. The laboratory is co-located with the Neuroimaging Laboratory (LNIF) of CIMeC, which provides several facilities for cognitive neuroscience investigations such as MR (4T Brucker Medspec Scanner), MEG/EEG (Electa Neuromag), TMS and EyeTracking. 

The successful candidate will work on the development of computational methods for brain data analysis approaching challenging tasks such as brain decoding, brain mapping and brain connectivity.
